GU Vice Chancellor Parimal Trivedi Arrested

Gujarat University Vice Chancellor Dr. Parimal Trivedi was arrested today morning by the SC/ST cell of the police in the atrocities case filed by Pankaj Shrimali, a professor of GLS Arts College. He has accused the VC of passing a casteist slur against him. He will be presented before the Metro Court later in the day.
The VC along with his family was missing for the past two days. He did not attend any official business nor was he present at his official residence. A team of SC/ST cell police men had visited his residence on Sunday and Monday only to be greeted by locked doors. He was finally arrested today morning the by the Police.
Shrimali had knocked on the doors of the HC alleging tardy investigation in the atrocity case. The Gujarat High Court had directed the police on January 19 to complete the investigation within a fortnight and submit an action taken report before February 21, when the case comes up for hearing again.
