Khusboo Gujarat Ki cost Gujarat Rs 40 cr

The Khusboo Gujarat Ki Ad campaign has cost the state of Gujarat a whooping Rs 40 Cr and that too when superstar Amitabh Bachchan has not charged even a single rupee ! This information was revealed from a written reply by the state tourism minister Jay Narayan Vyas to Congress MLA Babubhai Shah in the State Assembly.
The Mumbai based firm Ogilvy & Mather (India) has been paid for producing the advertisement and even shooting the advertisement featuring Amitabh. Also the services of firms like Rising Son Film India Private Limited, O&M, Mansi Movies, Saubhagya Ad Service, Betacam and promotion in print media, electronic media and outdoor advertisement cost the government of Gujarat Rs 38.53 crore for the campaign which includes airing these advertisements in electronic media and even radio.
Apart from payment to these agencies, the Government of Gujarat spent Rs 97 lakh to provide various facilities to Amitabh Bachchan during his Gujarat visits. Amitabh has so far visited Gujarat on three occasions and has carried out shoots in Bhuj, Somnath, Gir, Ahmedabad, Porbandar, Dwarka, Ambaji, Saputara, Pavagadh, Modhera, Siddhpur among others.
Teaser adds were aired in October 2010. These ads are now shown on various TV channels and audio adds are aired on local FM radio stations. The state government plans to take the advertisement campaign to all corners of the world.
