Swine Flu Claims second victim in the city

Swine Flu claimed its second victim in the city after a man who tested positive for the virus died in the Sterling hospital on Wednesday. Dilipkumar Babel who was shifted from Udaipur to Sterling Hospital in the city for further treatment succumbed to the disease.
Bebel’s condition was already serious when he was shifted from Udaipur civil hospital. His samples were sent for testing and he tested positive on April 9. This is the second death due to swine flu in the city and third in the state. Health department officials said that no new suspected case of H1N1 had been reported in the state.
So far samples of 25 cases have been tested for H1N1 virus in the city. Of these two of those cases tested positive while 23 of them tested negative. Talking to the media, Health minister Jaynarayan Vyas said that as per the Pune Virology Institute the H1N1 virus has seen a partial mutation. "This might be the reason why the virus, which is usually active in the winter, is also active in the summer," said Vyas.Â
