Adani Pumps up CNG prices again
Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
CNG is turning more into be Costly Natural Gas than Compressed Natural Gas for the consumers in the state. Adani Gas Ltd (AGL), the subsidiary of Adani Enterprises Ltd, has once again announced a hike in the price CNG. The price has been increased by Rs 2.80 per kg.
With the latest increase, the price of CNG from Adani stands at Rs 53 per kg. Adani has 50 CNG stations in Ahmedabad and seven in Vadodara. The company had increased the price of CNG for the third time in seven months. Last month the price was increased by Rs 4.7 per kg.
Hence the price has been increased by more than 16% in a period of less than two months.  Commuters in the city are likely to take the hit of price increase. It is most certain that the autorickshaws in the city will push for an increase in the passenger fares. Company officials have attribute the latest increase to the depreciation  in value of Rupee against Dollar.
CNG is becoming increasing popular among car owners in the city as a cheaper alternative to petrol in the city. This is evident from the increasing sales of CNG kits in the city and registrations with the RTO. But with such steep jumps in the price of CNG, the effect on the sales of these kits needs to be seen.
