Gujarat Global News Network, Junagadh

A magistrate in Junagadh has ordered a court inquiry against former chief minister Keshubhai Patel and 66 others in a case involving inciting people to resort to violence.

Last month Keshubhai along with some other senior leaders had addressed a meeting of Patel community in Mota Kotda village of Visavadar taluka. Remarks made during the rally, allegedly fuelled tension between the Patel and Kathi Darbar community, leading to stray clashes in Junagadh district in subsequent weeks. The most serious incident took place last Sunday in Bhesan town after several Kathi Darbar-owned shops were damaged in acts of arson and a BJP leader Bhupat Bhayani, a Patel, was fired at.

A case of delivering inflammatory speeches, rioting, possession of illegal weapons and damaging private property was lodged against Keshubhai, former home minister Gordhan Zadaphia, Congress MP Vitthal Radadia, Congres MLA Bavku Unghad and others by complainant Bahadurbhai Khuman.
