CBI files another charge sheet against Ketan Desai

The CBI has filed another charge sheet against former chairman of Medical Council of India Ketan Desai. The CBI has filed the chargesheet against him for allegedly allowing intake of students in MBBS course in a private medical college in the violation of norms.
The CBI has alleged that Desai along with Suresh C Shah, the then additional inspector MCI, entered into criminal conspiracy with chairman Dev Murti, director Aditya Murti and dean V K Shrotiya of Ram Murti Smarak Institute of Medical Sciences, Bareilly, for according sanction to admit fifth batch of MBBS students despite loopholes in the college’s infrastructure.
The CBI alleged that Desai directed Shah to conduct inspection of the college in a “lenient manner” and submit a favourable report hiding the deficiencies of faculty members and other clinical matters. It also alleged that in criminal conspiracy with college officials Dev Murti, Aditya Murti and Shrotiya, Desai influenced Shah to submit a favourable report on the basis of which the college got nod of the Central government to admit fresh batch of MBBS students despite glaring loopholes in its functioning.
It said conspiracy has been corroborated by Shah in his statement given before the magistrate under section 164 of the CrPC.
