Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
After dodging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two consecutive days, IPS officer Geetha Johri finally got her statement recorded on Wednesday in the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case.
The CBI officials went to Johri’s residence in their vehicles, from where she and the officials went to an undisclosed location where her statement was recorded. Earlier, the CBI team had asked her to remain available for questioning twice, but she did not turn up.
Johri had been questioned earlier by the CBI in the Sohrabuddin encounter case in relation to the the CD containing phone records of police officials alleged to be involved in the case, which was handed over by the investigating officer Rajnish Rai to the then additional director general of CID-Crime O P Mathur. Johri had then claimed that the CD was missing from the documents which were handed over to her by O P Mathur in 2007.
Johri is posted as managing director, Gujarat Police Housing Corporation at present. Meanwhile, the CBI is likely to seek yet another extension from the Supreme Court in the Tulsi encounter case. Sources said it may also submit a preliminary charge sheet in the trial court and Johri’s statement was crucial for that.Â
