Pranab visits Gujarat for presidential campaign
Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
UPA Presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee was in Ahmedabad today as part of his tour of the country in the run up to the presidential elections. Mukherjee met congress MLA and MPs at the GPCC headquarters in Ahmedabad.
Talking to the media, the congress veteran recalled the time when he represented Gujarat in the Rajya Sabha in 1981-87.  It was then that he became the Finance Minister for the first time in the Indira Gandhi cabinet and presented his first budget in 1982–83.
Mukherjee refrained to comment on the BJP’s decision to file an election petition against his nomination. He said every political party has the right to decide its course of action. On the possibility of TMC’s support to his candidature, Mukherjee said that the elections are on 19th and there is enough time in between.
On his arrival at the GPCC headquarters in Ahmedabad, Mukherjee was virtually mobbed by Congress workers. While the police tried their best to keep party workers at safe distance, when an overenthusiastic congress worker got too close, a visibly angry Mukherjee didn’t think twice before pushing him aside.
