President should not be a rubber stamp: PA Sangma

PA Sangma, the NDA backed candidate for presidential elections was in the state today. Sangma visited the State Assembly and met BJP MPs and MLAs and asked them to support his candidature.
The former speaker of the Lok Sabha emphasized that the president of the country should not be a rubber stamp. Addressing the media at the Town Hall in Ahmedabad, Sangma said that, “The President of India should not be blind, deaf and dumb. We want thinking and functioning President”.
“The President should not be a rubber stamp”, he said. Sangma also took a swipe at the Congress and the UPA government for of ‘high corruption and low GDP’ rate in the country. “Rupee is all time low in the history, commodity prices are highest in the history. GDP rate has come down drastically in the country”, said Sangma.
Sangma shared the stage with Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the Azad Hind Fauj foundation day function organized by Netaji Subhash Bose INA Trust. Praising Sangma, Modi said that, “If he would become the first citizen of India, it will be our honour to have the first tribal president.”
