The Supreme Court today reserved its order on the CBI’s plea to cancel the bail of former Gujarat Home Minister Amit Shah.
Shah, an accused in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh's fake encounter case, was arrested by the CBI in 2010. He was granted bail by the Supreme Court on the condition that he will stay away from Gujarat. In the last hearing on August 28, the CBI had pressed for the cancellation of Shah’s bail.
Today in court, senior advocate Ram Jethmalani said Shah is ready to accept any condition to continue on bail and is willing to give even an undertaking that he would not in any way, influence the trial. He also requested the court to allow Shah to enter as the elections are coming up in the state.
The CBI again sought cancellation of Shah's bail saying he cannot be put on higher pedestal than other accused in the Sohrabuddin case who have been denied bail. The agency added it has filed a charge sheet in the case of Tulsiram Prajapati killing two days ago, in which Shah has been charge-sheeted.
