Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a month long yatra today from Becharaji in Mehsana. Ahead of the assembly polls which are just months away, Modi will visit all districts of Gujarat during this Vivekanand Yuva Vikas Yatra.
Addressing a gathering near Becharaji, Modi lashed out at the Congress and the UPA government over issues like coal scam and the 2G spectrum allocation case. Modi also hinted that he would make “injustice meted out to Gujarat” the central issue of the assembly elections.
Modi appealed to the people to work towards 'Congress-free Gujarat' on the lines of 'gutka-free Gujarat' to wipe out "cancer". Modi took potshots at the Congress and the CBI saying the Congress was contesting the polls along with the investigating agency.
"They (Congress) question any constitutional authority that raises questions on them. They have even questioned the CAG," Modi said. Blaming the UPA government for the economic situation, he said the Prime Minister should follow the Gujarat model of development.
Modi did not spare any words for the Gujarat congress as well. He said, "My Congress friends have said that Modi should be opposed wherever he goes. I would ask the Congress that is this democracy? Do you want that when Sonia comes there should be a protest? When Manmohan Singh comes there should be a protest? I would tell my Congress friends not to be restless. I would ask them to let people listen to both BJP and Congress and let them decide,"
During the Vivekanand Yuva Vikas Yatra, Modi will address 150 public meetings in 182 Assembly constituencies in the state.
