Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the UPA government over its decision of hiking the hiking diesel prices and regulating cooking gas cylinders.
Addressing a rally as part of his Swami Vivekanand Yuva Vikas Yatra, Modi said that, “Sonia Gandhi’s government has carried out loot in your houses. Normally, a family needs 24 cylinders of cooking gas in a year but now due to the control, they will get only six. It is indirect loot in your homes,”
Trying to strike a chord with the large population of Diamond workers in Surat, Modi accused the UPA government of providing subsidies to slaughter houses in crores but not caring for any such incentive for other businesses like diamonds and textiles.
Modi also opposed the UPA government’s decision of allowing FDI in multi brand retail. “I don’t know what the PM is doing. Small businessmen will be forced to down shutters now, manufacturers will be hit, small-scale industries will shut down and the youth will lose jobs. Common man, farmers and small businessmen everyone will be affected,” Modi said.
UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was also a target of Modi’s speech. “Sonia Gandhi’s government has carried out loot in your houses. Normally, a family needs 24 cylinders of cooking gas in a year but now due to the control, they will get only six. It is indirect loot in your homes,” he said.
