Botad to be state’s 30th district

Gujarat chief Minister Narendra Modi added another name to the list of districts which will come to existence from January 26th, 2013. On Sunday he announced that Botad will be designated as a district.
The new district of Botad will be carved out from Bhavnagar and Ahmedabad. The new district will comprise of Botad, Gadhda and Dhasa talukas from Bhavanagar and Ranpur taluka from Ahmedabad. Modi made the announcement at the Swami Vivekanand Youth Convention, during which he addressed rallies in Botad and Limbdi town of Surendranagar.
Botad is the present constituency of minister of state for industries Saurabh Dalal. During his speech at Surendranagar, Modi told the public that soon Surendranagar will become a textile hub of the country. “Surendranagar is the highest producer of cotton in the country and now the state government has come out with a textile policy in which textile parks would come up in the district and create more jobs for people,” Modi said.
“Once the textile parks come up in the district, the face of Surendranagar will be changed. Readymade garments will be exported from Gujarat’s coast in the future,” he added.
