The MB Shah commission set up by the Modi government to probe charges against it in land allotment cases has given a "clean chit" to it in nine land allotment cases. The one man commission in its interim report has found no illegality in land allotments.
JayNarayan Vyas, spokesperson for the Gujarat government said that "The commission has submitted an interim report on its findings and concluded that the state government has adhered to proper procedures of land allotment and no illegality has been committed,"
The commission was set up in August, 2011 by the Modi government to probe allegations of corruption in land allotment leveled by the opposition Congress. The Opposition party had accused the Modi government of showing favouritism toward certain industrial houses in land allotments. The commission was given the task of probing 15 land allotment cases including that of Tata Nano’s plant.
The report was today placed before the Cabinet which met under chairmanship of Modi. "As the inquiry into the remaining six points are still pending, the government will short decide on giving further extension to the commission," Vyas said
