Former Guj Guv Naval Kishore Sharma Passes away

Veteran Congress leader and former governor of Gujarat Naval Kishore Sharma passed away today at the age of 87.
Sharma had served as the governor of Gujarat from 2004 to 2009. He was also a five-time MP and one-time MLA from Rajasthan. In the past he has held posts of the Union Minister of State for Finance (Nov-Dec 1984) and Union MoS (Independent charge) Petroleum and Natural Gas (1985-86). He was born at Dausa District of Rajasthan.
Sharma was being treated at the Fortis Hospital in Jaipur where he was on ventilator for the last few days. A few days ago leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, Vasundhara Raje and former foreign minister Natwar Singh had paid him a visit after they were informed of his failing health.
Gujarat Chief Minister condoled the death of the former Gujarat Governor. "Shri Naval Kishore Sharma added immense stature to the constitutional office he held. I had great regard for him. May his soul rest in peace,"Â Modi tweeted.
The Rajasthan government has declared one-day state mourning. Government offices, public sector undertakings and educational institutions will remain closed.
