Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
One of BJP Chief Nitin Gadkari’s company has milched Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation of crores of rupees in Modi’s favourite BRTS project.
What is shocking is the fact that AMC slapped a fine of Rs.10.19 crore on the company which was reduced to Rs.85 lakh by the BJP which rules both in state government and AMC.
While proposal to reduce the penalty to Rs.85 lakh is still pending before the Modi government Gadkari and his associates have got full payment of Rs.133 crore.
This sensational disclosure was made by Leader of opposition in AMC Badruddin Sheikh who said that instead of blackmailing the contractor the BJP showered favours on him and gave him the payment.
Ideal Road builders, a associate company of Purti Power and Sugar Ltd, was given a contract of Rs.133 crore in BRTS phase -2 for Narol to Naroda. The contract was given in August 2007 and the deadline for completion of work was September 2010. But the contractor failed to complete the work on time and as per the tender conditions the Municipal Commissioner put up a proposal for levying a penalty of Rs.10.19 crore.
The proposal came up before Standing Committee on March 24,2011 BJP reduced it to meagre Rs.85 lakh! The Commissioner sent the decision to state government for approval but till the date no decision has been taken on the matter.
In the meantime AMC paid entire sum of Rs.133 crore to Ideal Builders, Sheikh said. He alleged massive corruption by BJP in various projects and said that Modi’s claim of no corruption was a farce.
