Voters for the forthcoming Assembly elections in the state will for the first time have an option to not to vote.

They can go to polling booth and fill a form declaring “decide not to vote”.

Chief Electoral Officer Anita Karwal said that after going to a booth and after initial process like registration, signature etc a person decided not to vote then he will be given form number 17-A declaring that he does not want to cast vote.

She said that the data of such voters would be kept separate and the number would be released along with total votes.
