BJP MLA’s daughter accuses him of corruption, sexual exploitation and murder

In a turn of events which seem to have been picked up directly from a Bollywood flick, the daughter of sitting BJP MLA Kalu Virani’s daughter Alpa Virani alias Ritu has accused him of corruption, sexual exploitation and murder.
At a press conference in Amreli, Alpa said, “My father drowned my mother in the farm well. He has amassed huge wealth and also has an account in a Swiss bank,” She requested BJP to deny a ticket to her father, and appealed to people not to vote for him. She is the daughter of Virani’s second wife.
She made serious charges of corruption, sexual exploitation of girl students and disproportionate assets amounting to Rs 700 crore against her father who represents Savarkundla. She also made an appeal Chief Minister Narendra Modi not to give him a ticket to contest assembly election. Virani, however, maintains that Alpa has lost her mental balance and has been undergoing treatment for almost a year now.
Alpa emerged at the office of superintendent of police (SP) at Amreli on Monday evening after remaining untraceable for almost a day. She lodged a complaint against her family. “I feared for my life. My father can attack me for political gain. I need police protection,” said Alpa. As per her, she is unmarried and a thorn for the family. “They want me removed so that my brother gets all the wealth,” said Alpa.
Rebuffing father’s claims, Alpa said, “My father’s statement is false. I am an educated person, having studied in Singapore, Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. I am not at all mentally disturbed. My father is trying to project me as mentally unstable as his scams are being uncovered. I am not taking any medicine. My father should produce certificates of my mental sickness”. The mother and daughter live separately from the MLA.
