Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
The Metropolitan Court has given more time to Zakia Jafri to file a protest petition challenging closure report of the Supreme Court appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT) which gave clean chit to Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2002 riots case.
Zakia whose husband former Congress MP Ehsan Jafri was killed by a mob in Gulberg society has filed a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court in this case.Â
Magistrate B J Ganatra gave Zakia time till November 7 to file petition. Zakia who has filed a petition in Supreme Court seeking certain clarifications has said that her complaint was related to role of Modi in the state wide riots and not only Gulberg case.
The SIT had opposed Zakia’s plea on the ground that apex court had not given stay order on proceedings of the court. SIT also said that she should not be granted additional time to file her protest petition.
