Sulking Narhari Amin quits Congress
Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
Senior Gujarat Congress leader Narhari Amin, has finally resigned from the party. Amin had been sulking since the last week after being denied a ticket for the elections next week.
Amin, who had lost both the 2002 and 2007 assembly elections, wanted to contest from Gandhinagar South constituency. But the congress denied him a ticket sticking to its policy of not nominating those who have lost two elections.Â
Soon after the party denied him the ticket, there were reports of him shifting loyalties to the BJP. Senior Congress leaders including Gujarat Congress President Arjun Modhwadia had tried to placate, even offering him a Rajya Sabha seat, but Amin had remained indifferent. In a show of strength,Amin had arranged a get together of around 5,000 Congress workers and leaders from different parts of the state met at a farmhouse on the Sarkhej-Gandhinagar Highway in Ahmedabad.
Today he, along with Congress Spokesperson Jayantilal Parmar, Media cell members Hitesh Patel and RC Patel resigned from the primary membership of the Congress.
