Former Gujarat Congress leader Narhari Amin, who quit the party yesterday after being denied a ticket for the assembly elections, will join the BJP tomorrow morning at 10 AM in the presence of Chief Minister Narendra Modi.
Over the entire last week, Amin had neither denied nor accepted reports that he was going to join the BJP. He had just said that is in consultations with his well-wishers over the future course of action and take a call in a few days. Today the news was finally confirmed that he will be joining the BJP with a few of his supporters, in the presence of CM Narendra Modi tomorrow at 10 AM.
Amin had been unhappy with the Congress leadership since the last week. He had alleged that the party ignored his hard work for the party and denied him a ticket from Gandhinagar South constituency which he deserved. As a show of his strength, he had arranged a get together of around 5,000 congress workers and leaders from different parts of the state at a farmhouse in city.
He along with, supporters Hitesh Patel, Dasrath Patel, Ashish Amin, Digvijaysinh Gohil and Jayantilal Parmar quit the Congress yesterday. “I have been working for the party for last 25 years but the party high command has not appreciated my hard work and loyalty to it,” Amin told the media after his resignation.
Amin was a member of Congress’s Core Committee for the elections and headed a party committee formed to woo urban voters. He is also a former president of the Gujarat Cricket Association and vice-president of Board of Cricket Control of India.
