In Gujarat, Sonia Gandhi accuses Modi of ignoring the poor

UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi addressed an election rally at Mandvi in south Gujarat. Mrs Gandhi questioned the outcome of Gujarat government’s Rs 15,000 crore Van Bandhu scheme and Rs 12,000 crore Sagar Khedu scheme.
She rejected Modi's claims on development accusing the state government of completely ignoring the welfare of poor and wondered where all the central funds for the state had vanished. She said because of the policies of BJP government, the hardships of the common man have increased. "If the government had given attention to your problems, you would not have faced so many problems," Gandhi said.
The Congress chief said the UPA government had waived off loans to the debt-ridden farmers but their condition in Gujarat has not changed because of the "anti-people" policies pursued by the BJP govenrnment.
She questioned the state BJP government on the Rs 15,000 crore Van bandhu scheme. She sought to know where the money went. “What about promises given to tribal? Rs 12,000 crore Sagar Khedu scheme failed to improve lives of fishermen” Gandhi asked.
