Gujarat Pradesh Congress President today launched a scathing attack on Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for raising the issue of Sir Creek. He said that he had chosen to make it an issue of his election speeches for political gain.
In his media interaction, Modhwadia asked why BJP did not raise the issue in the Parliament as the session of Parliament was going on. He said that Gujarat Chief Minister had done maximum harm to the national security.
Elaborating his statement, he said that Modi had sold sensitive border land to his businessmen friends. Naming Adanai and Archean Chemicals, he said Modi had given them land at a throw away price.
For the last three days Modi and senior leaders like Arun Jaitley camping in Gujarat have been raising Sir Creek issue in election campaign and in media conferences. It all started with a letter written by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to the Prime Minister in his capacity as a citizen.
In this letter Modi has said that people of bordering Kutch feared that the central government was going to hand over Sir Creek to Pakistan on December 15. He said that it would affect national security and interests of Gujarat and so it must not be done. Prime Minister had issued a denial, but Modi and BJP continued to raise it.
In his media interaction, Modhwadia said that Modi had sold many areas around the creek to his businessmen friends and it appeared that he wanted to sell Sir Creek also.
Referring to the issue of land to South Western Air Command in Gandhinagar, he said that while he sold land at dam cheap rate to Raheja builders and others, he provided land to SWAC at a very high rate and that too after delaying the deal for years. This exposes his claims of national interest.
