Security guards of BJP candidate Jetha Bharwad fire shots in Shehra

Three persons were injured when the security personnel of BJP candidate Jetha Bharwad opened fire on a mob consisting largely of Congress workers in Shehra constituency of Panchmahal district this noon.

Panchmahal collector Manisha Chandra said that Mr Bharwad had gone to Tarsang village of Shehra constituency this morning. He and his supporters had a scuffle with the rival Congress workers over some issue. Security personnel of Mr Bharwad opened fire on the people injuring three persons.

Chandra said that Mr Bharwad has not received any bullet injuries but he was slightly hurt in the scuffle. All injued have been rushed to a nearby hospital. The Panchmahal Superintendent of Police has reached the spot and launched investigation. No arrest has been made so far, she added.

Meanwhile, the polling in the area has continued unaffected.
