Dr. Varesh Sinha has been appointed Chief Secretary of Gujarat.

The 1977 batch officer will replace A K Joti who is retiring this month. Sinha is additional Chief Secretary Finance.  Sinha has also served in Home department and Panchayats.

Modi government had sought extension of Joti but the Centre did not clear it. Late in the evening state government announced Sinha’s appointment. Now with his appointment question is how will become Finance secretary. Ravi Saxena, ACS Science and technology department is next in line but he is due to retire in March.
