Bail plea of cop accused in Sadik encounter rejected

A special CBI court here today rejected bail plea of DysP Tarun Barot, one of the main accused in the Sadik Jamal encounter case.
Barot was arrested by the CBI last year.
Special judge K B Gujarati while rejecting the bail application said that Sadik was taken from Mumbai by Barot on January 3, 2003 and he was part of the team that carried out encounter. The cop has been charged under the sections 302 (murder), 120 B (criminal conspiracy) and 342 (wrongful confinement) of the IPC. Â Â
Sadik was killed by Gujarat police in an encounter in Ahmedabad. The case was taken ahead after former journalist Ketan Tirodkar filed an affidavit before a court in Mumbai that he was witness to handing over Jamal to Guajrat police.
