40 people forced to dip hands in boiling oil in panchayat elections

In a barbaric act a candidate who lost in panchayat elections forced 40 people to dip their hands in boiling oil to ascertain if they had voted for him.

The incident took place Derai village in Bayad taluka in North Gujarat. The innocent people who burnt their hands have been shifted to government hospital.

Police nabbed the candidate Girish Parmar. According to reports after Parmar lost sarpanch election his supporter Amrit Parmar had a heated argument with the villagers. He accused them of voting for other candidate. To convince Girish that villagers had voted for him the latter took a shocking step and brought a pan of boiling oil.

He asked people to dip their hands to prove that they had voted for Girish. About 40 men and women dipped their hands in the oil as testimony of their voting. As the news spread district magistrate and police superintendent rushed to the spot. Though none of the injured has lodged official complaint police nabbed Girish.
