Sadhaks of Asaram Ashram had a scare when a huge mob of parents surrounded them at a school in Ranip.

The sadhaks had gone to ranip to Celebrate ‘Matru Pitru Vandana’ programme on the school premises. The parents who were present at the school for the function were told that the function was organized by the Brahmakumaris. But when some sadhaks brought a huge photo of Asaram Bapu on the stage, the parents realized the truth.

As the news of Asaram’s followers spread, a mob encircled the school and damaged sadhaks’ vehicles. The principal of Gita School Principal said: “It was around 12.30 pm when Asaram sadhaks came to our school. As they brought out a huge photograph of Asaram Bapu, the guardians present there took a strong objection to it. We were also surprised because they (sadhaks) had identified themselves as Brahmakumaris while seeking nod for the event.” Though the principal had immediately asked the sadhaks to leave the premises, a crowed had already gathered near the school.

The school authorities closed two of the main gates to prevent the mob from coming in. This angered the mob further and it vandalised the Maruti van and the Nano car in which the sadhaks had come. They even set on fire Asaram’s photo and books found in the cars.

On receiving a call from the principal, a police van rushed to the spot. Sensing the situation, they called for reinforcements. More police arrived from Naranpura and Ranip. Senior officials of DCB also rushed to the spot from Gandhinagar. They prevented the mob from setting ablaze the cars. The police resorted to a mild lathicharge after which the crowd gradually dispersed. Ranip police took the sadhaks and their vehicles to a safe location.

Paritosh Patel of Asaram Ashram said: “This is a conspiracy to tarnish the image of Asaram Bapu. We have video footage and photographs of the incident and we will hand it over to the police.”
