Licence of Cinepolis multiplex cinema suspended

The Ahmedabad District Collector has suspended the licence of Cinepolis Multiplex Cinema in Alpha-One Mall in Vastrapur area of the city.
The action was taken for violating norms and organizing late night shows beyond 1 am. The residents of the area had lodged several complaints in this regard.
As per the norms, the theatre cannot run movie shows after 12 at night. However, the shows at Cinepolis went beyond 1 am. This had irked the residents who were already opposed to giving license to the cinema. The Vastrapur Residents Association, had approached the district collector complaining about the harassment caused by the late night movie watchers.
The Collector had issued notices to the cinema owner but he did not respond. It may be noted that alpha-one mall has been in controversy since its inception. Residents of nearby area have lodged their protest on several grounds. They have complained that the mall organizers were throwing dirty water on the road. There have been complaints of traffic and parking problems also.
