Gujarat’s new Textile policy to attract Rs 20,000 Cr Investment

The Gujarat government today announced a new textile policy for the state. The announcement for the policy was made by State Energy Minister Saurabh Patel at the state capital Gandhinagar.
“The new textile policy will help the state attract investments of more than Rs 20,000 Cr,” said state energy minister Saurabh Patel. Giving out details of the new policy, Patel said that it will help generate more than 25 lac jobs, 50% of which will for women.
As per the new textile policy, the state government will provide subsidy of 5% to 7% for various textile processes ranging from ginning to garment manufacturing. The government will also provide a subsidy of Rs 1 per unit on the electricity tariff for the textile units.
To promote captive power generation, the state government has said that it units going for captive power generation will be provided assured supply of lignite from GMDC.
