Ashok Leyland launches Dost in Ahmedabad

After its launch in Surat and Rajkot, Ashok Leyland today introduced its first Light Commercial Vehicle Dost in Ahmedabad region. Company plans to make pan India presence while stepping up the production of the joint venture product in a phased manner.
Dost is the JV product of Ashok Leyland and Nissan Motor company to be sold with Ashok Leyland badge. Company is very hopeful of the success of its entry in the LCV segment riding Dost on the ground that crowded cities are making room for smaller commercial vehicles.
Executive Director of the company Nitin Sheth said that company is setting up modern dealership network for the sales and service of Dost. He said that there was a waiting period of four months which showed the signs of success of the product launched four months ago. At present 1100 Dost are rolled out through one production unit and the capacity is being increased gradually.
He said that primary focus of the vehicle is internal transport in the cities as more and more cities were prohibiting heavy vehicles. As another “first” in the LCV industry, Ashok Leyland will offer Ready-to-Use Vehicles on the Dost platform for applications like refrigerated containers, steel containers, ambulance, aluminum fixed side decks and service-at –site vehicle, he claimed.
