Now students of 8th and 11th standard in Gujarat will need only 33 percent marks to pass. This follows a decision of Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board to reduce pass percentage from existing 35 percent to 33 percent.

The decision to reduce the pass percentage will come in force from this year. This means the students appearing in the examinations of standard 8 and standard 11 will have to just get 33 percent marks to pass.

Board justified lowering of the pass marks on the ground that this is to make pass percentage of these two classes consistent with standard 9, 10 and 12. This will be implemented in all streams a release of the Board clarified.
