MSU’s Office of International Affairs (OIA) has signed MoUs with three German-based universities —University of Osnabruck, European University Frankfurt Oder and University of Bamberg. The university has plans to start student exchange, faculty exchange and joint research projects with the European varsities.

In the pipeline are MOUs with University of Education, Weingarten and University of Education, Schwabisch Gmund apart from Austria-based University of Linz.

With this, MSU which has a unique advantage of housing two European language departments — German and French — will start student exchange, faculty exchange and joint research projects with the European varsities.

“The most important feature of these MoUs is that each host institution will waive tuition and other fees incurred by the exchange student for registration and admission. This will help MSU students visit these universities which otherwise have a very high fee structure,” director of OIA professor Sharad Bansal, who recently visited Berlin, Germany, told TOI on Monday.

It is for the first time that MSU’s biggest faculty — faculty of commerce — has foreign university collaboration with Faculty of Economics and Business Administration (FEBA) of European University, Viadrina, Frankfurt Oder has inked a MoU with MSU. FEBA is ranked third.

University of Bamberg will coordinate with all faculties of MSU. With Vadodara’s unique advantage of presence of German firms, a tripartite agreement is also being worked out.

“This agreement will be internship-based whereby management students from University of Bamberg will be able to understand functioning of German firms in a developing nation (India) as compared to a developed nation. Simultaneously, students from our university will be able to understand functioning of German firms in their native land during their internship,” said Bansal.

University of Education, Weingarten, is tying up with MSU’s Faculty of Education and Psychology while the Institute of Psychology of University of Osnabruck which has a tie-up with Department of Human Development and Family Studies has shown interest to collaborate with Department of Psychology
