AICTE raids two colleges in Surat

The All India Council of for Technical Education conducted surprise checks on two colleges in Surat. Sources have revealed that raids will be carried out at 100 campuses in Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh which have applied for an increase in the number of seats in technical courses.  

The raids are conducted to check the claims made by many colleges on the portal of AICTE. Many colleges have asked for a hike in their intake capacity by applying on the online portal of the AICTE. These colleges have to furnish details about the college’s infrastructure, staff and the students while applying to the increase. Many colleges are reported to have indulged in malpractices including lying about infrastructure and human resource. 

A committee of two experts and one architect will visit the college campus to check if the colleges have provided wrong information. If the colleges are found to have provided false information, their recognition can be cancelled.
