GTU VC to attend the Parents Association Meeting
Gujaratglobal News Network, Ahmedabad
The Gujarat Technical Education Parents Association, the parents association of the students in GTU affiliated colleges, will hold its first meeting at the GU senate hall on this Saturday. Interestingly the meeting will be attended by Vice Chancellor of Gujarat Technical Univeristy A K Aggrawal.
The parents, under the banner of the association have many demands with the GTU like change in the exam pattern, removal of 30% weightage to the college marks, making attendance compulsory and compliance with the UGC norms etc.
As per the memorandum released by the association, it wants the mid-term exams canceled, which according to them eats into academic sessions of the students and hence they have lesser classes. They also want GTU officials to follow the rules and regulations of the University Grants Commission to ensure grants are received for academic and research works.
The other major demand is the removal of the 30% weightage give to the internal marks secured by the students in the college exams. The students feel that this gives the students to opportunity of getting away easily at the college level and they do not work hard for the GTU exams.
The parents are also concerned by the incomplete academic work in the colleges. They also want that the attendance should be made compulsory for all students.
