Keshubhai Shoots from the lip: All Gujarati’s living in fear
Gujarat Global News Network, Gandhinagar
Elections in Gujarat are due later this year and the political slugfest is catching pace in the state. Former CM Keshubhai Patel fired the first salvo at the CM Narendra Modi by stating that all Gujarati’s are living in fear.
Keshubhai Patel was ousted by Narendra Modi in 2001 when he took over the post of CM of the state. Since then Keshubhai has been marginalized at the state level with no or very little political activity. It is a well known fact that the two leaders are not on the best of terms.
Speaking at a community event organized in Ahmedabad, the 82 year old leader said, "Not just Patidars, all Gujarati’s are a scared lot today,” Attacking Modi over the publicity blitz by the government, he said, "What is the point in trying to get publicity all over the world when your own people are suffering badly,"
Good police officers were being victimised. "Even officers are in a state of terror. There is no justice in Gujarat today, the innocent are being framed in false cases while the guilty ones are being set free," Patel, blaming 'thugs' and 'maha-thugs' for the mess.
Keshubhai Patel, who belongs to the influential Patel community, has become active in the public domain since the last few months. He has attended more than four major public gatherings and openly voiced his thoughts against the chief minister.
Also present at the event was former minister of state for Home Gordhan Zadafia. He said, "Keshubhai has nothing personal to gain that is why he is taking on the present regime. He is coming out as a statesman to help people who are finding themselves in trouble".
