Time for change : Keshubhai Patel
Gujarat Global News Network, Panchmahals
Former chief minister Keshubhai Patel has given the call for a change of regime at his speech at the tribal rally organised in Ghobhamba taluka of Panchmahals on Sunday. Patel attacked CM Modi for the injustice meted out to the tribals by the state government.
Addressing the tribals, Keshubhai said the number of tribal children enrolling in primary schools had fallen. Pooh-poohing the Van Bandhu programme, he said that it was nothing new but part of the budget. “As chief minister, I had ensured opening of 5 colleges in Adivasi areas. But the government is now interested in only making a business out of education,” said Patel.
The event was attended by hundreds of people, including the MJP president Gordhan Zadaphia, Nalin Bhatt, Kashiram Rana, KD Jeswani, Suresh Mehta and other members of the anti-Modi camp.
“The government brought Tata Nano from West Bengal to Gujarat and made it sound as if it was akin to bringing the Ganges from heaven to earth. Tata Motor invested Rs2900 crore in Gujarat and in return got itself a package of Rs33,000 crore,” Patel alleged.
Commenting on the Sanjay Joshi episode, he said,. “Despite such happenings, the party is trying to give motivational doses to its workers,” he said. Calling for change, he said that a change is inevitable and that he was with the people.
MJP president Gordhan Zadaphia said that the state government was boasting that Gujarat was energy surplus when it was, in fact, buying electricity from private companies to benefit MNCs. “The government reduced power generation by state companies so that it could justify purchase of electricity at higher rates from private companies,” alleged Zadaphia.
