Are there signs of thaw in the poster war which had erupted between Gujarat CM Narendra Modi and his bête noire Sanjay Joshi? Or is it part of a larger game plan. Sanjay Joshi has issued an appeal that no posters hitting out at any BJP leader and depicting his photos should be put up again as it harms the party's image.

Interestingly the appeal has been issued on a BJP letter-head. Contradicting the party’s stand that Joshi has been “relieved” from the party. The appeal says such posters which depict his picture and attack a leader cannot be done by well-wishers of the party. “Though this appears to be the job of conspirators, yet I appeal to all my well-wishers, supporters not to put up any posters or take out any pamphlets or hold demonstrations for me”, Joshi said.

“Such activities harm the image of the party. Such activity causes damage to the party. For me the party and its ideology is above all. We are significant only as long as the BJP is there,” he added.

Following the events at BJP’s executive meeting at Mumbai and Joshi’s ‘resingnation’ from the BJP, posters had been put up at the BJP headquarters in Delhi and Ahmedabad which carried Joshi's photo and targeted Modi without naming him. Such posters and pamphlets came up again at the BJP Gujarat conclave.

In his appeal, Joshi appears to be taking potshots at Modi, saying the importance of the party is way above that of a leader.
