One of the two complaints filed against former chief minister Keshubhai Patel was withdrawn following a truce between the warring Kathi Darbars and Leuva Patels.

Bahadur Khuman of Bhesan had filed a complaint on June 7 against Patel and 66 others for giving “instigating speeches” in Mota Kotda village. Following the intervention of local religious leader Karsan Bapu, a truce was called between the warring Kathi Darbars and Leuva Patels. However, the second complaint filed by Vira Dhandhal two days ago remains in the court.

In his speech, the former CM had asked people “not to be afraid of confronting anyone.” The remarks, as per the plaint, fuelled tension between the Patel and Kathi Darbar community, leading to clashes in subsequent weeks. The most serious incident took place in Bhesan town after several Kathi Darbar-owned shops were damaged in acts of arson and a BJP leader Bhupat Bhayani, a Patel, was fired at. Maha Gujarat Janta Party president Gordhan Jhadafiya, Congress MP Vitthal Radadia, Congres MLA Bavku Unghad were also named in the complaint.
