Addressing Gujarati diaspora in the US through video conferencing, Modi said that “Rather than taking things forward, the UPA government has actually wasted a decade. The plane of UPA’s economic policies, instead of taking off, has actually crash-landed,” He called upon the Gujarati community to in the USA to exercise their franchise from their respective countries through postal ballot in the upcoming assembly polls in Gujarat.

The three day World Gujarati Conference, ‘Chaalo Gujarat’, being held in Edison, New Jersey is organized by Association of Indian Americans of North America (AIANA). The conference was attended by eminent Gujaratis from all over the USA and other members of the Indian community.

Modi has not been able to attend any of the conferences and events held in the USA by Gujaratis over the last decade due denial of visa by the US authorities.  After the 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, US government had denied visa to Modi.
