It is an irony of sorts for the BJP in Gujarat. It has been revealed that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will be using his mentor LK Advani’s rath for his month-long Swami Vivekanand Yuva Vikas Yatra (SVYVY) starting from September 11.
If you are wondering what is so ironic in that, then we would like to remind you that this is the same rath which Advani had used for his not so successful Jan Chetna Yatra last October. At the time of Advani’s Yatra last year, it was extensively reported how Advani was forced to start his Jan Chetna Yatra from Bihar after he reportedly got a cold response from Modi over flagging it off from Somnath in Gujarat.
BJP’s spokesperson Vijay Rupani, said that, “The rath will be brought from Delhi for the SVYVY. The yatra will start from Bahucharji in Mehsana, a pilgrimage for Hindus and also proposed site for new plant of the Maruti and will go to Sanand. Rajnath Singh, former BJP national president will come to flag off the rally.”
The yatra will take rest on September 12. It will resume on September 13 from Unai village in South Gujarat and reach Valsad. On September 14, it will start from Chikhli in Navsari and end at Kamrej in Surat.
The use of Advani’s rath seems to be an attempt to put at rest the speculation about differences between the two BJP leaders ahead of the Assembly elections in the state due late this year.
During the campaign, the CM will cover 150 places in all 182 Assembly constituencies. The yatra is scheduled to end on October 11, which is Jayprakash Narayan’s birth anniversary,” Rupani said.
The BJP will take out about 150 sub rallies in support of the main rally of the rath at every destination.
