SP announces names of 53 candidates for Gujarat

Samajvadi Party has made it clear that it will have a strong presence in Assembly elections in Gujarat. It also made it clear that it will play Muslim card fully. In the first round it has announced names of 53 candidates of which 17 are Muslims.
Announcing the names its general secretary Ramjilal Suman, a former union Minister, said that the party would announce the names of other candidates after the screening process. He did not give the number of candidates party would field in the December elections in Gujarat.
Suman claimed that Muslims of India considered SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav as their leader and so party was giving greater representation to Muslims. He said that SP was third biggest party in the country and it wanted to broaden its base pan India. As part of this it was focusing in Gujarat elections.
To a question, he said top party leaders will come to Gujarat to campaign.
