Narhari to stay away from Congress campaign

Congress leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Narhari Amin who has been denied ticket has decided to stay away from the campaign of the party in the Assembly election. At one stage Narhari Amin was contemplating to quit Congress and join BJP.
After he was told that he would not get ticket, Narhari Amin late last night announcement that he would not contest election. He had sought ticket for Gandhinagar South. However, the party took the stand that since he had lost two last elections he would not be given ticket. Party had set condition for all candidates that they should not have lost two consecutive elections.
Later, Narhari Amin charged the party with favouritism and nepotism and said that the Congress was not able to get majority because of race for Chief Ministership among its leaders. BJP tried its best to attract Narhari Amin in its fold and even kept the option of ticket for Gandhinagar South to him open.
Streams of his supporters continued to gather at his residence since last night. Amin who had been mobilizing Congress workers for the last one year or so, had brought scores of BJP leaders in Congress. Four of these former BJP personnel have been given Congress ticket in Ahmedabad.
In the evening Amin said that he would not join the campaign of the Congress party.
