Modi has direct fight with Shweta Bhatt of Congress
Gujarat Global News Network, Ahmedabad
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi will have direct fight with Congress in Maninagar as Gujarat Parivartan Party today withdrew its candidate in favour of Congress candidate Shweta Bhatt.
This follows an appeal by Shweta Bhatt wife of controversial IPS officer Sanjiv Bhatt that all other political parties should withdraw their candidates to support her fight Narendra Modi directly.
Modi is contesting from Maninagar constituency in Ahmedabad city for the third time. Congress fielded Shweta Bhatt on the last day as its candidate from Maninagar. Gujarat Parivartan Party led by former Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel recently has its candidates in almost all 182 constituencies.
"We are withdrawing our candidate, Pravin Patel, from Maninagar Assembly constituency in favour of Congress candidate Shweta Bhatt so that there is a direct fight between Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and Shweta Bhatt," GPP General Secretary Gordhan Zadaphia said.
