Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today launched a blistering attack on Congress and its president Sonia Gandhi asserting that he was committed to the development of Gujarat only. He said what Congress could not do in 40 years, he did it in ten years.
Modi who has developed a style of immediate reactions to the public speeches of top Congress leaders was referring to the speech of Sonia Gandhi in Siddhpur in north Gujarat. He said that while talking about the state of electricity in Gujarat Sonia Gandhi should check the scene in Delhi.
He said that in its 40 years, Congress provided poor quality of electricity (Langdi bijali) to people of Gujarat. Even now, he said, Cong was biased against Gujarat. Overnight 200 MW was diverted from Gujarat to Mumbai. As a result farmers of Gujarat had to suffer. He referred to Sonia as Soniaben.
Referring to the role of Nehru in the development of Gujarat in the speech of Sonia Gandhi, Narendra Modi said that her statement itself showed that nothing was done after that. What about those who came after Nehru. Soniaben should talk about what they did, Narendra Modi said.
Referring to Sonia Gandhi’s statement that her mother-in-law had come to Siddhpur, Narendra Modi asked does it mean that people should vote for congress for that. He said that Sonia’s visit to pilgrim towns Siddhpur and Dakore would not wash sins of Congress.
