Congress Legislature Party in its meeting in Gandhinagar today took serious exception to the manner in which the Chief of Special Investigation Team Raghvan is acting. In a piercing attack on SIT Chief, the party said that Raghvan who is being offered all kind of undue facilities by Modi government was blatantly trying to protect Chief Minister Narendra Modi and other accused.
In a statement, Leader of Opposition Shaktisinh Gohil said that though the Supreme Court had, in 12th September, 2011, asked Raghavn to submit his report, he was delaying the task. Every month Rs 1.5 lakh is paid from the public money to Raghvan. His conduct has always been suspicious, he said. He was extended all facilities at government expense during his visit to UK.
Raghvan has not bothered to record statement of important witnesses like R B Sreekumar, Rahul Sharma and Sanjiv Bhatt. Supreme Court appointed Raju Ramchandran did lot of home work and prepared a comprehensive report in the case, but Raghvan is trying to find out loopholes to save Chief Minister and other accused.
Raju Ramchandran had pointed out in his report, the presence of Ministers in control rooms, presence of Sanjiv Bhatt at the residence of Chief Ministers and suggested action against CM and 61 others under the provisions of Section 153 (A), 153(B), 505 and 166. Still Raghvan is trying to save CM.
Raghvan was earlier associated with Ratan Tata whose company has been given incentives of billions of rupees for its Nano Car Project. His conduct is raising doubts in the mind of people. He said that CLP expected that Supreme Court which upholds justice will do justice to people of Gujarat in case Raghvan played any mischief.
He said that the meeting of the CLP decided to act as a positive and creative opposition in the budget session of the State Assembly by raising issues of public concern in a democratic manner. CLP demanded that surcharge on VAT should be abolished, VAT on fertilizers be removed, power connection to farmers in dark zone areas, prompt implementation of High Court order about fixed salary staff, implementation of Right To Education, abolition of Trust Act, adequate electricity to farmers and that the commercialization of education be stopped.
