Journalists discuss Conditions of Service affecting them

A meeting of about 35 journalists from across the country was convened in Ahmedabad on 4th February, 2012. The meeting, convened by Mr. R R Goswami former Sr. Reporter (Times of India Group), discussed the Conditions of Service affecting the journalists in the country. The meeting also discussed issue like contractual employment of Journalists, the Working Journalists Act (1955) and plight of Stringers.

Pachauri appointed communication advisor to PM

Pankaj Pachauri has been appointed Communications Advisor in the Prime Minister’s Office. With this Harish Khare who was media advisor to Prime Minister has resigned. The shakeup is said to be a desperate attempt of PMO for image makeover in view of adverse campaign.

Censorship is no answer to irresponsible journalism: PM

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh said paid news, sensationalism and prejudiced stories are major problems of media today. But censorship is no solution. He was speaking at a function to release the book titled “The Tribune 130 years: a witness to history” in New Delhi.

Wikipedia to blackout for a day to protest US ant-piracy legislation

wikimediaWikipedia, the popular information sharing website, has announced that it will voluntarily blackout the English version of the website for a day on Wednesday to protest proposed U.S. anti-piracy legislations. The announcement was made by the Wikimedia foundation on its website.
