With introduction of new rules and setting up of passport sewa kendras, applications for passport will be accepted only at passport sewa kendras. Until now applications could be submitted at post offices and police stations.

As part of making passport issue system transparent and corruption free, agent system has been scrapped. Now applicant will have to submit the application personally. Applicants will also have to go through finger print verification.

External Affairs Ministry has set up five passport sewa kendras in Gujarat. Besides two in Ahmedabad there is one PSK in Rajkot, Surat and Vadodara each.
