Indigenous UAV RUSTOM-1 makes successful flight

Indigenously designed and developed RUSTOM-1 made 14th successful flight this morning at Kolar with attainment of about 11,500 ft AGL (above ground level) and speed of above 140 Kmph during 2 hrs 10 minutes of cruise.

Army, Air force conduct ‘Shoorveer’ exercise in Rajasthan

The South Western Command, Army is conducting Exercise ‘Shoorveer’ in the desert sector of Rajasthan. The IAF is involved in the exercise with troops (EWT) in a big way with elements from WAC providing full spectrum of Air Support during the exercise.

Indigenous Combat Aircraft Tejas makes its maiden flight

The indigenously built Light Combat Aircraft Tejas LCA Navy NP1 today made its maiden flight in Bangalore when Commodore JA Maolankar, Test Pilot and Wg Cdr Prabhu, Flight Test Engineer completed a 22 minutes flight. During the flight the aircraft was put through various manoeuvers including low speed handling and even undertook a close formation flying at slow speed with another aircraft.

India spending more on Defence imports

The capital expenditure on imports for modernisation of Armed Forces has gone up by 51% in the last four years, as per the figures given by Defence Minister A K Antony in the Parliament. Defence related imports have increased from Rs 10166.08 Cr in year 2007-08 to Rs 15443.01Cr in the year 2010-11.

IAF-Featherweights in the service for 26 years

126 Helicopter flight, christened ‘Featherweights’ was raised at Chandigarh on 15 May 1986.The unit was established to fly the Mi-26 helicopter, the largest and heaviest helicopter in the world, a very formidable machine capable of versatile roles. The flight lives by the motto ‘Aaptsu Mitram’ which means a friend who is always around to help when tragedy strikes.
