Lt Gen Gautam Ravindranath is Director General Medical Services

Lt Gen Gautam Ravindranath has taken over as the Director General Medical Services (Army) on 01 April 2012. He was commissioned in the Army Medical Corps as Captain on 16 January 1975. An alumnus of Armed Forces Medical College Pune, the General Officer is an accomplished Paediatric Surgeon of national repute besides being a recognised Post Graduate Teacher of the Universities of Pune, Mumbai and Delhi. He has published several research papers in National and International Journals.
During his illustrious career of 37 years, he has held various, important appointments such as Senior Adviser (Paediatric Surgery) at Army Hospital (R & R), Deputy Commandant, Artificial Limb Centre Pune and DDMS of a Corps in Counter InsurgencyOperations in the Eastern Sector.
Before taking over as DGMS (Army), the General Officer was commanding the AMC Centre and College Lucknow, a prestigious establishment of the Armed Forces Medical Services.
He has been holding the appointment of Colonel Commandant of the Army Medical Corps since 31 December 2010 andHer Excellency the President of India has appointed him as President's Honorary Surgeon (PHS) since 22 Dec 2011.Â
